Grok limits covered in this guide
Grok no longer fits a simple “messages per day” table. Paid usage is moving to one shared weekly pool, while free Chat and Voice limits reset separately.
Open Settings → Usage for the only reliable account-specific answer: it shows the weekly percentage used, product breakdown, reset time and any extra credits.
xAI does not publish a stable Ani-only table promising the same number of messages, voice minutes or videos to every account. Plan, product, platform, rollout and compute cost all matter. A fixed number copied from a forum can be wrong for your account the same day.
For paid Grok, the current official model is a shared weekly allowance. Chat, Imagine, Voice and other paid products draw from the same pool, so heavy video generation can shorten the room left for ordinary companion use.
The pool is flexible rather than four independent buckets. One chat message uses relatively little compute; high-quality video or a long coding task uses much more. The Usage page reports percentage consumed by product and the exact reset date.
This is why two people on the same plan can hit a limit at different moments. Count behavior, not just actions: twenty short chats and twenty long media tasks are not equivalent.
On web or mobile, open Grok, go to Settings, then Usage. Record the total percentage, the Chat/Imagine/Voice breakdown, the weekly reset date and Extra Usage Credits balance. If Ani is reached through X rather than grok.com, also confirm the current X subscription and the message shown at the point of use.
Take a dated screenshot before and after a controlled ten-minute session. The delta is more useful than an unofficial quota chart because it reflects your plan, region and current rollout.
Chat is generally the lightest unit. Voice keeps a live audio interaction running; Imagine creates images or video; each can consume the shared allowance at a different rate. The product breakdown exists precisely because a raw action count would be misleading.
Ani is an experience inside the Grok ecosystem, not a separate unlimited meter. Treat the companion, voice and media controls as routes into the same account allowance unless the current UI explicitly says otherwise.
Official guidance says paid features pause until the weekly reset, while separate free-tier Chat and Voice access may remain. Depending on account and market, the interface can offer extra usage credits, a higher plan or automatic top-up.
Do not upgrade from a generic “limit reached” screenshot alone. Open Usage first, identify which product consumed the pool, then decide whether a higher plan or a change in media habits solves the actual bottleneck.
Reserve media for moments that matter: establish the scene in text, use voice when it adds presence, then generate one deliberate image or clip instead of repeated retries. Keep prompts specific so expensive generations are less likely to be discarded.
Review the product breakdown midway through the week. If Imagine dominates, reduce variants or quality before cutting ordinary chat. If Voice dominates, switch routine exchanges to text and keep voice for focused sessions.
Grok is free to start, while SuperGrok raises access and paid X tiers advertise higher Grok limits. Purchases made through grok.com, Apple, Google Play or X can be managed in different places. Feature availability also changes by device and region.
Use the exact account that opens Ani when checking billing and Usage. A subscription on one identity does not prove that another signed-in account receives the same allowance.
X explains that Grok interactions can be used for training depending on settings, and provides controls for data sharing and conversation deletion. Review those controls before putting names, addresses, health details or other sensitive information into companion chat.
A new xAI voice API release does not automatically mean the Ani consumer voice has changed. Consumer Grok, X features and developer APIs are different products; confirm changes in the interface you actually use.

Use a small, non-sensitive test character first. Compare the imported fields and one controlled conversation before moving a full library.

There is no stable public Ani-only number for every account. Check Settings → Usage and the message shown in your current app.
Yes. xAI says different products consume different amounts based on compute, and high-quality video costs much more than a chat message.
The exact date and time are displayed in Settings → Usage for your account.
Paid features pause, but separate free Chat and Voice limits may remain. Extra credits or an upgrade can also be offered.
Grok is free to start, but access, higher limits and particular companion or media features can depend on plan, platform and rollout.
Do not assume so. Verify the subscription attached to the account and its current Usage page.
